It gives us the absolute pleasure to celebrate St Patricks Day with the one and only Baz Hickey. A regular on the 45 circuit and a cemented spot on the 45Live roster, Baz has created this mix exclusively for GCASFM. Many of you may not realise that he is also a fellow Crohn's sufferer, so welcome to the party Baz, lets slap Crohn's a drink a Guinness to celebrate the day.
A message from Baz:
“I had a lot of fun working on this mix for Hospital Radio. This mix was created with 7 inch records exclusively. I chose to create a mix from records that wouldn’t ordinarily make it into the bag for a club set but would work for radio. The Give Crohn’s A Slap From Me campaign has my full support. I was diagnosed with having Crohn’s a few years ago. I count myself lucky to have a mild form of the disease that doesn’t affect my day.“
Biography:
Baz Hickey is the only Irish member of the international DJ team 45 Live. The Irish Times label him the '45 King' and Baz Hickey has earned the right to be described as such. Musically, he covers a lot of ground, always maintaining a hip hop sensibility when approaching the turntables. Having curated the Funk 45s night in Dublin's South William and later in Sweeney’s, his brand new all 45s night at Yamamori Tengu plays host to some of the scene's favourite spinners. On the broadcasting side, he has provided mixes for RTÉ (IRL), Dublab (USA), WFMU (USA) and 2SER (AUS).
For more information and mixes, keep up to date with Baz via his Instagram, Facebook and Mixcloud pages. Also keep a close eye on the 45Live roster for upcoming show. Many thanks to Baz for such a stellar mix, keep in touch.
