After a summer break away from the controls, we kick back on Hospital Radio with London based Don Grizz. Coming with an hour of pure quality, exclusive extracts and a large portion of deep rooted house. So sit back and take the weight off as we deliver to you quicker than ÜberEats!
Years of residencies, raves and radio shows as part of the drum n bass underground in mid 90s of Germany, Don Grizz has left his mark on London’s thriving music scene since the early 2000s.
Whether it’s the legendary “Adventures in Rhyme” residency in Camden with Man One / IXA (now of Hong Kong fame) and Dysu / Die Soon (Chief noisemaker in Berlin), the groundbreaking “Open Sauce” nights from labels such as Wichita, Big Dada, Ninja Tune etc (guests such as Infinite Livez, Gold Panda, Teef, Seiji, Rafferty, Dj Hotel, Offshore (RIP), The Hinderance, Elan Tamara, Anthony Joseph, Wermonster, The Reptiles to name just a few), collaborating with seminal label OG Cultures, promoters Tempo Clash and documentary & design pioneers The SRK - Don Grizz unifies many styles and cultures within his approach to DJing and producing music.
2018 highlights include a 3 hour in store performance at South London music institution Rat Records as well as a 2 hour set at Tottenham’s latest hotspot The Cause. Having an insight in the daily challenges of living with Crohn's , he has been a keen supporter since learning about GCASFM.
In his own words…
Even though I learned of Crohn’s in 2002 (when a loved one was diagnosed with it), it took me many years to understand the full scale of the (daily, short and long term) challenges Crohn’s sufferers experience. The disease can have devastating consequences on the individuals quality of life and that of their loved ones, it is often misunderstood and underestimated but the tide is slowly turning thanks to projects like GCASFM.
Raising awareness is absolutely vital and supporting GCASFM in their work is something that is very close to my heart, having exposure to the disease and dealing with it on a daily basis.
About the mix…
I tried to capture a vibe that transcends a specific style of music, always staying consistent yet unpredictable and of course entertaining. The mix contains an exclusive from DJ Jenifa (aka Gold Panda), a track from the late great friend Offshore as well as anything in between. Enjoy!
